Rundown 6/12/2017 - Jcomp edition

It was a big week across the athletic landscape as several sports and collegiate softball crowned champions. Nadal finished an all-time great run through the French Open, the Penguins won the Stanley Cup, and Lebron ended talk of the Warriors and an undefeated postseason. Meanwhile, Patty took the LOL season lead for all of 36 hours until TJS could finish his 100 hour work week and get back to his computer to “adjust” the scoring.

We’re 12 days into the second streak month of the LOL year. I feel a bit like Bob Gibson probably felt in 69 after the whiners got their way and the rules were changed. Luckily enough we’re entering prime Cricket season which, outside of Russian Basketball, is my sweetspot. You guys better get ready for a load of Chris Gayle Hot Takes.

Triple Frown

We’ve seen six different horses win the six triple crown races since American Pharoah in 2015. While being a borderline sports degenerate is a necessity in the League of Legends, do any of us really care about horse racing when the chance at witnessing history is gone? Didn’t think so. On the scale of WNBA to Track & Field (the truest form of sport), horse racing is somewhere around NASCAR.

Baseball

Questionable Judgement
In light of future MVP Aaron Judge’s monster home run this week (longest in MLB recorded history), we’d be remiss if we didn’t again mention the fantasy transaction of the year. Shortly before the sun would rise on April 26th, Team WarningTrackPower released Aaron Judge in order to clear room for Ace Dylan Bundy. Could this blunder end up being the difference between an LOL three-peat for Team Story? Only time will tell.

Free Agent Performance of the Week
Shoutout to FA Scooter Gennett for his 37 point performance against the Cards on Tuesday. Gennett went 5/5 with 4 home runs and 10 RBI. Mike Matheny should get an award for allowing his pitchers to continue to throw to him, but who can really blame Matheny for refusing to take seriously a man named “Scooter”?

On the Bus to Triple A
Carlos Gonzalez - A repeat name on the manifest, Lime In The Coconut remained hopeful. A 13 point performance Tuesday wasn’t enough as CarGo followed it up by going 0-20 with an ejection mixed in. Lime In the Coconut finally abandoned hope on his 4th round pick with a release.

Eric Thames - All things considered, Thames didn’t have the worst week ever (12.2 fantasy points) but his -0.75 performance on Sunday was enough to lose the matchup of the week for Josh’s team and earn him a ride on the bus out of town.

Eric Skoglund - Skoglund’s KC HOF induction ceremony may have been a bit premature as he lasted just an inning and a third against the San Diego Mendozas who feature the worst lineup in all of MLB. Luckily Stump Grinder’s could fill his Skoglund-sized rotation hole with Ian Kennedy.

America’s Hero

Quiet week at the plate for American Hero Yasiel Puig. Puig went 3/18 with one single and a couple two-baggers. His only highlight came on Tuesday. Following a strikeout to end the game, (now-former) Nationals closer Koda Glover told Puig to “Sit the [expletive deleted] down.” Of course, no one tells an American Hero this (even when he makes no sense) so Puig took exception to Glover’s nonsense.Fortunately cooler heads prevailed and a benches clearing slap fight was avoided. Side note - With Glover on the DL, Washington called up Joe “AARP” Blanton. Dude is almost old enough to have been born in the 70s.

Rundown 4/10/2017

Horstman Master's Dominance, Tower continues his Yahoo league excellence, Baseball week 1 wrapup, that and more in this week's rundown. The Masters One could argue Horstman wasn't even paying attention to Season 3 League Of Legends. He shut all that noise down with a convincing Masters Championship foursome netting him 1000 fake internet points and 5 minutes of League of Legend fame. The winning foursome of Hideki Matsuyama, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Rose pulled away from the rest of the field. Horstman scored a 100 point bonus for picking Rose who finished 2nd in the tournament. NHL Champion The only legend who showed up for the NHL draft completes his wire to wire run as NHL leader and champion. Tower basks in the glory of another league championship under his belt. Gras' team started hot in day one of the championship matchup netting 19.20 points (not even sure my team ever scored that many points in one day). Gras continued to build a lead headi...
